We always like to have lots of options for kids at recess. If you or someone you know ever has extra items such as kickballs, footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, etc. our recess supervisors would gladly accept these! Just bring them to our office. Thank you! |

Join Sugar Creek as we continue our award-winning focus on healthy living and wellness with an All-School Walk on Monday, September 22, 2025! The Starting Line and Finish Line will both be behind the left (Gymnasium) side of the school. Families can park and join us between 9:00 – 9:20 a.m. The path is entirely on black top around our school, so no wet shoes to worry about! Students arriving on buses and students dropped off will be directed to the start line, will enter school after the walk and then go to class. (If it is sprinkling or raining at 9 am, the walk will be canceled.) All of our staff, and some parent members of our Health and Wellness Team, will be supervising and participating!
Previous walks were super fun, and this is a great “warm-up” to our Fun Run, on Saturday, October 4th! |

Did you know Sugar Creek has a Sunshine Committee? The Sunshine Committee is a wonderful group that provides help to families in our school that are having troubled times such as a serious health problem, a car or other accident, permanent or temporary loss of a family member, or a death in the family. The committee offers a little “sunshine” by coordinating to make meals and/or help provide for other needs during a stressful family time. When Mr. Brunner or I become aware of a family in need of support, we will contact the family. We will find out how the Sugar Creek community can aid the family during their tough time. We will then contact the members of the Sunshine Committee to help meet these identified needs without disclosing the identity of the family seeking support. The Sunshine Committee will donate or provide the tools to meet these needs to Mr. Brunner and me. This might be preparing a meal, purchasing a gift card, going on a grocery run, or giving a Sugar Creek friend a ride. The privacy of the family in need will be a top priority, so the Sunshine Committee will bring donations to the school to then be delivered to the family by myself or another Sugar Creek staff member that the family feels comfortable with. Would you like to be on the Sunshine Committee?
Do you or someone you know need some sunshine? Contact Trista Kaja, Sugar Creek social worker *If an immediate response is needed, please call the school office and ask for Mr. Brunner or Ms. Kaja. Thank you for helping to make Sugar Creek a warm and safe place for our students and their families! Trista Kaja |

In the Verona Area School District, we use assessments in literacy and math to understand each student's current skill level and determine the best ways to support their learning. We give these assessments three times a year: in the fall, winter, and spring. Here's a breakdown of the assessments your child may take:
Students in our Two-Way Immersion program take the reading assessment in both English and Spanish. These assessments are a valuable tool for helping us partner with you to support your child's academic growth. |

We want all Sugar Creek students to take part in our awesome PTO fundraiser - the Sugar Creek Family Fun Run! Below is a link to the fun video your student watched today explaining this fundraiser. We want all students to participate even if they can’t come on race day. Please help them sign up to help their class win a prize. The Fun Run is our MAIN fundraiser. Kids make their own fundraising website and email their link to family and friends to get donations. The website is easy to use and will help them collect tax deductible donations easily! We would like each student to try to raise $40. If we meet our goal, we won't have to do any other big fundraisers this year! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER YOUR STUDENT ONLINE. IT TAKES LESS THAN A MINUTE! WEDNESDAY October 1: GET COLLECTING! The single class with the most donations gets to have an outdoor lunch with root beer floats! The whole school will work together to get donations to meet our fundraising goal of $28,000. FRIDAY October 3: CELEBRATE! When the school finishes fundraising, all students will join the fun run parade and pep rally on October 4th with Wildcat and watch Mr. Brunner and our Sugar Creek teachers participate in a fun activity! SATURDAY October 4: GET RACING! Don't miss out on the chance to join our amazing Sugar Creek Community on race day at our 10th annual Fun Run! Remember, the more money we raise with this community building fundraiser, the more awesome things we can do for Sugar Creek! How to sign up is on the website: GET STARTED HERE Please note, this signup is different (and in addition to) the t-shirt form you may have already filled out. Thank you for providing that information already if you did so! If not, you still can here: https://forms.gle/ Do you want to help make the Fun Run a great success? Sign up by clicking here to volunteer or email sugarcreekfunrun@gmail.com. Remember, grandparents and older siblings make AWESOME volunteers for the Fun Run! |

We have a long-standing tradition at Sugar Creek of taking an all-school photo, each September. Friday, September 19th, it will be even more important than normal that your children are here and on time, as we take this photo right after attendance. Once returned from the photographer, the photos are displayed by our Gymnasium, and we also sell copies as families have asked through the years. |

We so appreciate the parent volunteers (Michelle France, Michael Graveen, Molly O’Brien, and Mandy Auger) who helped students get the school pictures taken last week. Their assistance allowed the two photographers to stay on schedule, and all students to be smiling and ready when it was their turn. If you’re ever able to assist us, school volunteer needs such as this can often be found in the PTO’s weekly newsletter. |
